Software Developer - Ozone, Singapore

Cloudera empowers people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. The Storage Engineering team focuses on building Apache Ozone, a massively scalable distributed object store. The team is responsible for the primary storage and access layers core to the Cloudera Data Platform.

• Design and implement core feature set of Apache Ozone and Apache Ratis (open-source RAFT implementation).
• Contribute to HDFS development for one of the most widely deployed distributed storage systems.
• Drive the design and implementation of distributed storage features that scale to thousands of nodes and tens of billions of objects.
• Drive technical direction and roadmap for the storage product.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and actively participate in code reviews.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; Ph.D. preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant industry experience with strong backend engineering skill set and expertise in Java.
• Hands‑on programmer with deep knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience designing and developing large-scale, distributed systems with a strong understanding of scaling, replication, consistency, and high availability.
• Experience with system software design, computer architecture, storage, network, and I/O subsystems.
• Clean coding habits, attention to detail, focus on quality, and strong communication skills.
• Experience with distributed storage systems (file systems, database storage internals, NoSQL, distributed hash tables) is a plus.
• Performance tuning experience and ability to implement optimizations.
• Good understanding of Apache Hadoop ecosystem (MapReduce, HBase, Hive, Spark, etc.) is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with consensus protocols such as Paxos, RAFT, or equivalent.
