R&D Software Engineer – International Robotics Deployment & …, Singapore

R&D Software Engineer – International Robotics Deployment & …, Singapore
Description

About the job

We are looking for 1–2 R&D Software Engineers to join the Yours Robotics international division in Singapore.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Punggol Digital District (PDD), Singapore, supporting our Singapore expansion, including our Singapore smart-district pilot at Punggol Digital District, with opportunities to support future deployments across Singapore and international markets, including Japan.

This is not a standard software engineering role. It is a hands-on R&D, product, and deployment role for someone who wants to build software, work directly with robots, solve real-world problems, and help scale an international robotics business from the ground up.

Indicative remuneration: S$5,000–S$6,000/month base.

Remuneration may also include potential equity in the parent company, to be discussed and agreed separately.

Probation: 6 months.

Work model: On-site in Singapore.

Travel: Required where needed, including potential training in China and support for international deployments.

Work authorisation: Applicants should be based in Singapore or able to work on-site in Singapore with valid work authorisation. Visa sponsorship is not provided at this stage.

Interests expressed on LinkedIn will not be considered as an application.

Calling all builders who can ship software, debug messy real-world systems, stay calm under pressure, and want to see their work move through the physical world.

About Yours Robotics

Yours Robotics is a Series B robotics company with an IPO on the horizon.

We build interactive autonomous robots that bring AI agents, automation, commerce, and real-world analytics into physical spaces.

We have successfully deployed 2,500+ interactive autonomous robots across 300+ sites in China, including premium high-footfall locations such as shopping malls, railway stations, and airports.

We are now scaling internationally.

Our initial expansion locations include Singapore’s Punggol Digital District, Escon Field in Hokkaido, and several proof-of-concepts in Tokyo. Singapore is a key launch market for our international expansion, and this role will be part of the earliest team helping to make that happen.

Yours Robotics is also one of the companies selected for RoboNexus by Singapore’s National Robotics Programme (NRP), an initiative supporting high-potential robotics and embodied AI companies.

Learn more about RoboNexus here:

robots combine autonomous navigation, computer vision, multi-screen displays, QR interactions, AI-powered conversations, vending and delivery capabilities, and real-world analytics. We help brands, venues, retailers, and property owners engage people in high-footfall environments with measurable outcomes.

This is not a pure desk-based software role.

You will write code, work directly with robots, test products in the field, support live deployments, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, speak with users and partners, and help us adapt our robotics platform for Singapore and other international markets.

We are looking for someone who wants to be early, take ownership, and grow with the company.

What you’ll do

We are hiring a software-first engineer who is comfortable with development, but also excited to become hands-on with robotics, hardware, field deployment, and commercial problem-solving.

You will contribute across areas such as:

Building and improving web tools, dashboards, APIs, internal systems, and deployment workflows

Supporting robot testing, debugging, deployment, connectivity, and operational setup

Working hands-on with robots in real-world environments, not only in a controlled office or lab setting

Supporting our Singapore smart-district pilot at Punggol Digital District and future Singapore deployments

Supporting international expansion where required, including potential Japan deployments in Hokkaido and Tokyo

Working with China-based engineering and product teams to localise and improve the platform for international markets

Identifying product gaps from real-world usage and translating them into practical improvements

Exploring external products, technologies, tools, robots, apps, kiosks, mobility systems, and user experiences, then applying relevant ideas to our robot platform

Supporting software related to robot operations, campaign analytics, QR flows, inventory, user interactions, deployment management, and internal operations

Preparing technical documentation, deployment playbooks, demo materials, field reports, and trial analysis

Joining customer, venue, and partner conversations where technical input is needed

This is a startup role, so the boundaries are intentionally wide.

Some days you may be writing software. Other days you may be testing a robot on-site, preparing a demo, debugging a device, coordinating with engineers in China, speaking with partners, or turning field feedback into a product decision.

Who we’re looking for

We care deeply about attitude, ownership, and learning speed.

You should have:

Around 2–3 years of professional software development experience, or equivalent experience shipping real software products

Strong software engineering fundamentals, demonstrated through work experience, projects, internships, research, open-source work, or other practical achievements

Experience in front-end, back-end, or full-stack development

Comfort working with APIs, databases, cloud services, version control, debugging, and modern development workflows

The ability to work independently with limited direct supervision

A proactive and self-starting attitude — you should not need to be told every next step

Adaptability and willingness to learn quickly across software, hardware, operations, and commercial topics

A calm and composed working style, especially when troubleshooting live systems or supporting deployments

A practical problem-solving mindset, especially when things do not work as expected in the real world

Strong attention to detail and willingness to get hands-on

Clear communication skills when working across engineering, operations, commercial, and customer-facing teams

Willingness to travel when required for training, deployment, troubleshooting, and international expansion

Curiosity about robotics, AI, automation, user experience, and how technology can be applied in physical environments

Direct robotics experience is not required.

We are looking for someone with strong development ability, strong fundamentals, and the hunger to pick up robotics, hardware, and commercial understanding through hands-on work.

Helpful but not required

Experience with any of the following would be a plus:

React, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Python, or similar stacks

Cloud services, databases, APIs, dashboards, or internal tools

Linux, networking, IoT devices, cameras, sensors, or embedded systems

Robotics, AMRs, computer vision, fleet management, or field deployment

Hardware debugging, prototyping, or working with physical devices

Startup experience or customer-facing technical work

Mandarin communication ability, especially for collaboration with our China-based engineering and product teams

Japanese communication ability for Japan deployment support

Experience taking inspiration from other products, apps, robots, kiosks, retail experiences, mobility systems, or consumer journeys and applying those ideas to a new product

Training may be provided in China, but most of the learning will be hands-on, on the job, and through active exploration.

Why this role is different

You will be one of the first 1–2 people in the Yours Robotics international division.

That means real responsibility from day one.

You will not just inherit a narrow task list. You will help define how we deploy, support, localise, and scale autonomous interactive robots outside our home market.

This is a good fit for an aspiring front-end, back-end, or full-stack developer who wants to move beyond building screens and APIs in isolation, and instead work on software that connects to real robots, real venues, real users, and real commercial outcomes.

You will get exposure to:

Robotics deployment in public and commercial spaces

AI agents in the physical world

Singapore smart-district pilots

Japan market deployments

Software, hardware, operations, and commercial work

Cross-border collaboration with China-based engineering teams

A fast-moving, early-stage international expansion environment

The opportunity to grow with a Series B robotics company with significant deployment experience and IPO ambitions

If you want a comfortable, highly structured corporate software role, this is probably not the right fit.

If you want to build, learn quickly, take ownership, work with real robots, and help create the operating system for international robotics deployment, we would love to hear from you.
