Job Description
National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for a Research Fellow position in Advanced Membrane Science and Engineering for Sustainable Environmental Applications. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Professor Chuyang TANG, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE), focusing on the development of ultra-permeable nanofiltration membranes for water treatment and resource recovery.
He/she Is Required To Perform The Followings
Design and fabricate ultra-permeable nanofiltration membranes, with a target pure water permeance >80 L m-2 h-1 bar-1 and >98% Na2SO4 rejection in crossflow filtration mode Characterize membrane properties and structure using electron microscopy, XPS, FTIR, PALS, etc. Evaluate membrane performance across diverse application scenarios. Develop practical ultra-permeable nanofiltration membrane modules and processes. Support the research team in various research-related activities, including proposal development, academic and industrial collaboration, and student mentoring.
Job Requirements
A PhD degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or related fields. Strong relevant experience in nanofiltration membrane preparation and process development is compulsory. Experience in the design, characterization, and application of polyamide nanofiltration membranes. Experience in nanofiltration for pollution control. Skilled in fabricating ultra-thin polyamide composite nanofiltration membranes (e.g., sub-10-nm polyamide rejection layer). Experience in interlayered thin-film composite nanofiltration membranes. Strong advantage for researchers with one or more of the following expertise: Experience in developing ultra-permeable nanofiltration membranes (e.g., water permeance >80 L m-2 h-1 bar-1) and related applications is a strong advantage. Experience in submerged vacuum-driven nanofiltration processes. Capable of designing electricity-free portable water purifiers. Publication record in prestigious journals. Proven ability to independently drive research projects and collaborate effectively in a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Open to a fixed-term contract.
