Job Summary: The Technologist is responsible for performing PET/CT imaging procedures in compliance with establised protocols, ensuring accurate diagnosis and patient care. This role requires expertise in operating PET/CT equipment, preparing radiopharmaceuticals, and maintaining safety standards to ensure the well-being of patients and staff. Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Imaging Perform PET/CT imaging procedures according to clinical protocols and physician instructions. Prepare patients for imaging, including explaining procedures, positioning them appropriately, and ensuring their comfort throughout the process. Administer radiopharmaceutials as prescribed, following safety and dosage guidelines. Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain PET/CT imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance. Conduct routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to maintain accuracy and safety standards. Troubleshoot and report any technical issues to the appropriate personnel.
Safety and Compliance Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and oneself. Maintain compliance with all regulatory guidelines, including infection control and radiopharmaceutical handling. Ensure accurate documentation of all procedures and patient records in line with confidentiality requirements.
Collaboration and Communication Work closely with radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare professionals to interpret and deliver imaging results. Provide input for the development and improvement of PET/CT protocols. Maintain inventory of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging supplies, ensuring availability for scheduled procedures. Prepare and submit accurate billing and coding information for procedures performed.
Requirements Diploma or Degree in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, or a related field. Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology or PET/CT specialization. Current licensure to practice as a PET Technologist. Prior experience in PET/CT imaging is preferred. Familiarity with radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration. Proficiency in operating PET/CT imaging equipment and associated software. Strong understanding of radiation safety and regulatory compliance. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration. Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
