A LEADING GLOBAL INDEPENDENT BROKER Howden is a specialist insurance broker. Its regional footprint covers Singapore (regional headquarters), Japan, India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines. It is part of the London-headquartered Howden Broking Group, a leading independent, global broker with offices in over 55 countries worldwide.
JOB OVERVIEW: The Head of Sales, Asia, will lead the growth strategy and sales initiatives across Howden Asia, driving revenue growth, market expansion, client pitches and engagement with sales colleagues. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on collaboration across country teams, specialties, and industry partners to deliver tailored solutions to large and complex opportunities.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and execute regional sales initiatives and growth strategy to support country growth performance and sales colleagues' development across Asia. Closely align and support country-level sales leaders and teams to achieve performance targets and ensure alignment with regional goals. Identify and engage potential large and complex corporate clients, including multinationals and conglomerates, in collaboration with country and specialty teams. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, prospects, and industry partners (e.g. insurers, adjusters) to foster long-term partnerships. Work with Bid Leader(s) on large-scale sales bids and tenders, ensuring high-quality proposal submissions and/or compelling pitches that showcase Howden's value proposition and solutions. Work with Marketing team and collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. product, operations, compliance) to deliver integrated and client-centric solutions.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE: Bachelor's degree holder, with insurance qualifications to practice as an insurance broker in Hong Kong or Singapore; experience across other Asia countries is a plus. Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in insurance, broking, sales, or related fields. Proven track record in sales strategy, business development, and team leadership. Experience of leading winning bids, tenders and/or pitches in Asia. Strong understanding of Asian markets and regulatory environments. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to travel across the region as required. Highly driven and energetic with strong interpersonal communication skills, a good team player, and a proactive, self-motivated attitude. Fluency in English; ability to communicate in other Asian languages are a plus.
