General Accountant (Commodity Trading)
to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a solid background in accounting within the commodity sector. Location:
16 Raffles Quay, Hong Leong Building, #20-05A&06, Singapore 048581 Key Responsibilities: Handle the full set of accounts, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), Fixed Assets, and bank reconciliations. Manage intercompany processes such as billing, confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement. Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Oversee the timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and submit weekly and monthly management reports, including but not limited to AR aging and counterparty risk reports. Reconcile financial statements between group and statutory records. Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, providing insights for strategic decision-making. Support ad-hoc financial projects and analysis as required by management. Compliance & Audit: Ensure strict compliance with local accounting standards (SFRS/IFRS), tax regulations, and internal company policies. Prepare, review, and coordinate various GST/VAT and Withholding Tax (WHT) submissions. Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance. Operational & Administrative Support: Process and verify trade-related transactions, ensuring accurate recording of commodity purchases, sales, and inventory movements. Manage employee reimbursements and monitor the petty cash imprest system. Liaise with banks on trade finance matters as required. Assist the Finance Manager with internal control reviews, process enhancements, and other ad-hoc assignments. Requirements: Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Accountancy, Business, Business Administration and Business Finance A minimum of 8 years of Accountant experience. At least 5 years of experience in commodity trading , with a proven ability to manage a full set of accounts. Experience in the freight business is required. Familiarity with various commodities (e.g., coal, metals, agriculture, etc.). In-depth knowledge of Singaporean accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations. Proficient in accounting software and MS Office applications, with a strong command of Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of MYOB multi-user accounting software is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work independently with high self-motivation and a proactive approach. Possess a positive working attitude and strong sense of responsibility.
