About the Role We're looking for an experienced and strategic Social Media Lead to drive the overall planning, production, and performance of content across all social platforms. This role requires both creative oversight and operational rigour — someone who can lead a team, develop ideas that resonate with younger audiences, and ensure high-quality execution from start to finish.
You'll work closely with the editorial team as well as content producers to translate editorial priorities into engaging, platform-specific content, while also assisting the editor in monitoring trends and performance to keep our presence relevant and impactful.
Job Responsibilities: Lead day-to-day planning and execution of content across TikTok, Instagram, Telegram, X, Facebook, and more Manage and mentor a team of social media content producers and interns Develop and oversee a content calendar that supports editorial and engagement goals Collaborate with assistant editors to repurpose stories for social and surface content ideas with viral or shareable potential Ensure smooth end-to-end production — from ideation and scripting, to shoot and post-production, to scheduling and posting Collaborate with commercial teams on branded content Review and approve social visuals, captions, and videos before publishing Monitor performance analytics and audience feedback to continuously refine and improve content Be the point person for platform trends, algorithm updates, and best practices Occasionally create content yourself when the situation calls for it
Who we're looking for: You should be someone who: Has at least 5 years of experience in news, digital media, or a related field, with team leadership experience. Understands the nuances of each platform — what works where, and why Is plugged into what's trending online and knows how to translate that into ideas Can pitch bold, quirky or unconventional social-first formats Can multitask and handle several projects at once, without dropping the ball Has strong editorial judgment, visual instincts, and attention to detail Knows your way around content planning tools, scheduling platforms, and basic video editing workflows Is passionate about news, people, and public affairs Has experience managing or mentoring creatives, with strong project management and communication skills Is comfortable with shift work and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
Bonus points if you: Are familiar with youth-targeted content Have experience working with influencers, creators or community engagement campaigns Are confident in front of or behind the camera Have experience with video editing, basic design (e.g. Canva), or scripting Are familiar with local humour and Singlish Have a sense of humour and positive attitude
