Job Description
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our programme on magnetic-driven cell microrobots for biomedical applications. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of miniature robotic platforms that integrate engineered cells, magnetic materials, and microrobotic actuation for targeted delivery, imaging, and therapeutic intervention. The Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator to advance microrobotic system design, magnetic navigation strategies, and biological validation.
Key Responsibilities Include
Design and development of magnetic-driven microrobot and cell–robot hybrid systems. Fabrication and characterization of magnetic materials, soft materials, and biohybrid robotic components. Development of magnetic actuation and control schemes for precise navigation in fluidic and tissue environments. Performing in vitro and ex vivo experiments to evaluate robot locomotion, targeting capability, and functional performance. Execution of biological assays to assess cell viability, immune activity, or therapeutic function when applicable. Analysis of experimental data and preparation of figures, reports, and scientific manuscripts. Collaboration with students and other researchers working on microrobotics, biomaterials, or control systems. Contribution to laboratory operations, equipment management, and development of new experimental methods.
Qualifications
Possess a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Robotics, Bioengineering, or a closely related field. Strong research background in magnetic actuation, microrobotics, biohybrid robotics, or soft robotic materials. Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred
– magnetic material synthesis or characterization
– soft material fabrication
– cell culture or biological assays
– micro-/nanofabrication or microfluidic experimentation
Demonstrated experience in experimental design, data analysis, and laboratory-based research. A strong publication record in relevant research areas. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary research team. Strong communication skills and the ability to prepare scientific reports and manuscripts. Open to a full-time fixed-term appointment.
