The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science at Nanyang Technological University, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance excellence in biological and biomedical sciences. Our research spans diverse and impactful areas including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative disorders, telomere biology, and genome function. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Officer (PO) to join our research team in the field of synthetic microbiology.

• Design and construct biosynthetic pathways in microbial chassis
• Perform gene cloning and genome editing
• Express and characterize enzymes
• Conduct molecular biology experiments (DNA manipulation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing)
• Maintain and manage microbial cell cultures
• Perform bacterial transformations
• Troubleshoot experimental procedures and optimize protocols
• Analyze and interpret experimental data
• Contribute actively to collaborative research efforts

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Biology or a related discipline
• Foundational knowledge of molecular cloning, protein expression, and purification techniques
• Hands‑on experience with PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, and bacterial transformation systems preferred
• Familiarity with synthetic biology tools and concepts is an advantage
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for scientific research and teamwork
