The AMR IRG is an interdisciplinary community of biologists, engineers, and clinicians from MIT and Singapore, sharing a state‑of‑the‑art research facility and united by a commitment to providing a supportive intellectual environment where students and staff can learn, grow, and contribute to solving a pressing societal problem.

The objective is to develop and apply an integrated drug discovery platform for RNA‑modifying enzymes, focusing on identifying and advancing small‑molecule inhibitors with therapeutic potential. The project combines cell‑based compound screening, quantitative LC‑MS/MS analysis of RNA modifications, target engagement assessment, and disease‑relevant validation to enable systematic discovery of drug candidates, pharmacodynamic biomarkers, and actionable RNA modification pathways for future therapeutic development.

The Research Engineer will plan and conduct experiments to support the validation and advancement of RNA modification–targeted drug discovery projects. Tasks include cell culture, compound treatment, RNA isolation, LC‑MS/MS‑based RNA modification analysis, and functional assays to assess drug mechanism of action and efficacy in relevant cell models. Responsibilities also encompass assay optimization, data organization and interpretation, preparation of results for reports and publications, coordination with the AMR IRG community and external collaborators, and development of strong experimental, analytical, and communication skills.

B.S. or M.S. in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, bioengineering, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field. Prior experience in mammalian cell culture, RNA extraction, HPLC, LC‑MS/MS, molecular biology techniques, or cell‑based assays is preferred. Experience in drug discovery, pharmacology, or assay development is an advantage but not required. Strong oral and written communication skills in English, good organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
