Developing growth strategies and plans with clear metrics to evaluate success. Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients. Increase client base by identifying and exploring potential new clients. Negotiating with stakeholders and drafting business proposals. Identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs. Conducting market research to identify new business opportunities and viable income streams. Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events to network and promote the company. Developing ways to improve the customer experience and build brand loyalty. Working with the marketing team to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner. Ensuring all team members represent the company in the best light. Presenting business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff. Researching and writing business proposals that are persuasive and well-structured. Education and Certification Requirements
To qualify for the role of Business Development Manager, candidates should ideally have: MBA in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a relevant field. An MBA is often preferred. Proven working experience of at least 5 years in business development, sales, or a similar management role. Experience in customer relationship management. Knowledge of the industry and market trends. Exceptional negotiation and leadership skills. Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce). The ability to build rapport and articulate business propositions effectively. Strong business acumen and ethics. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and decision-making capabilities.
